Butterflies from Alaska and Canada
About this Drawer
Alaskan and Canadian butterfly specimens in multiple curation stages, including a series (far left) with glassine field envelopes instead of printed labels. These envelopes have specimen data written in pen, which is soluble in water and thus not a preferred medium to record specimen information. Fortunately, these specimens were found within the Alaska Lepidoptera Survey database – they were collected in 1971 near Fort smith, Northwest Territory, by L. Cass. Eventually, these butterflies will receive printed labels.
